Celebrating the Tutors Who Empower Healthcare Professionals

Published:

At Learna | Diploma MSc, we know that behind every healthcare professional making a difference is a dedicated tutor who guided them along the way. On this Teacher’s Day, we want to shine a spotlight on the tutors who are not just educators, but mentors, supporters, and champions for our students. Their commitment to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals is a testament to their impact on the future of healthcare.

Why Should You Care?

If you’re a healthcare professional, or someone aspiring to advance your career, your journey to success depends on more than just textbooks and lectures. It’s the mentors you encounter who make the difference. They’re the ones who help you master complex topics, support you when you’re feeling overwhelmed, and push you to achieve your full potential. At Learna, our tutors do exactly that. Whether you’re already enrolled in one of our programmes or considering it, you’ll be guided by experts in their field who are invested in your success.

The Mentors Behind Every Healthcare Success Story

Our tutors aren’t just academics, they are experienced healthcare professionals working on the front lines. They understand the demands of the field, and their teaching goes beyond delivering course content. They offer practical insights, real-world applications, and personalised support that helps you succeed, no matter how busy or challenging your career may be.

As one student shared:

"The tutor was amazing, always approachable and very knowledgeable. Her clear explanations and patience made tough topics easier to grasp."

This kind of tailored, real-world guidance is what sets our tutors apart and why it matters to your learning and career progression.

Meet the Tutors: Inspiring Insights from Our Tutors

We asked some of our tutors what motivates them and what they find most rewarding about teaching. Their insights show the heart and passion they bring to every lesson:

Dr Paul Grant, AI in Medicine, Calcium and Bone Medicine, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Medical Education & Thyroid Medicine

What inspired you to start teaching?
I was inspired to teach because of my passion for medical subjects. I wanted to help people understand the complexities of medicine and address the challenges of traditional teaching methods.

What’s been your most rewarding moment as a tutor?
Helping students from disadvantaged backgrounds get into medical school and seeing them change their lives.

How do you feel your role supports healthcare professionals?
As a tutor, I provide clinicians and trainees with a supportive, patient-centred guide to help them grow and develop in their careers.

Dr Abdul Naeem, Acute Medicine

What inspired you to start teaching?
Teaching provides an excellent opportunity to serve society, continue learning, and enjoy life.

What’s been your most rewarding moment as a tutor?
Seeing my students perform at their best and receiving positive feedback after they’ve excelled in their studies.

How do you feel your role supports healthcare professionals?
It’s a senior’s responsibility to teach and train juniors. Without doing so, we wouldn’t have the next generation of great doctors.

Dr Eiman Soliman, Rheumatology

What inspired you to start teaching?
I started my journey as a learner with the PGDip course, and I was inspired by the flexible, interactive learning style. As a professor of rheumatology for over 20 years, joining Learna as a tutor was a great honour.

What’s been your most rewarding moment as a tutor?
Receiving appreciation and feedback from students motivates me to continue giving my best, regardless of the time and effort required.

How do you feel your role supports healthcare professionals?
When students contact me for advice on complex cases after their modules have ended, it’s incredibly rewarding to know I’ve supported their professional growth.

Dr Kevin Nwanna, Public Health

What inspired you to start teaching?
I’ve always been passionate about helping people live healthier lives. When I see someone suffering from a preventable disease due to lack of knowledge, I feel compelled to teach and help create positive change.

What’s been your most rewarding moment as a tutor?
The most rewarding part is seeing students apply what they’ve learned in their daily practice and knowing that I played a part in making that happen.

How do you feel your role supports healthcare professionals?
My role helps healthcare professionals stay updated with the latest skills in their fields. It also encourages them to embrace change as part of their growth.

Dr Saurabh Sinha, Neurology

What inspired you to start teaching?
I’ve always enjoyed teaching, even when I was in school. Several inspiring teachers made a real difference in my life, and I’ve always wanted to pass that inspiration on to others.

What’s been your most rewarding moment as a tutor?
It’s incredibly rewarding when a student finally grasps a concept they’ve struggled with. Sometimes, the simplest lessons are the most important, as they provide the foundation for future learning.

How do you feel your role supports healthcare professionals?
Healthcare professionals have demanding but fulfilling roles. My job is to enhance their understanding of clinical problems, which in turn improves patient care and makes their work more enjoyable.

Dr Nicci Whiley, Diabetes & Metabolic Medicine

What inspired you to start teaching?
I have been involved in training pharmaceutical sales representatives since 2008, and I love to impart knowledge and facilitate adult learning.

What has been your most rewarding moment as a tutor?
Having that 'ah ha' moment when a student realises a new concept. As postgraduate professionals, we often assume that students know everything, but there’s always something new to learn!

How do you feel your role supports healthcare professionals?
Every new concept learned benefits the patient, and in that way, I feel I am indirectly making a difference in a patient's journey.
